The purpose of this handbook is to provide adolescents and adults with helpful suggestions for listening in a wide variety of settings, as well as to provide listening exercises that can be used in a rehabilitation therapy program, with a friend or family member who may act as a listening coach, or independently using the accompanying CDs.
The audio CDs that accompany this handbook contain listening practice exercises that begin with relatively simple auditory skills and progress step by step to more complex listening tasks. Forms for each exercise are provided in the handbook, along with a blank form that can be copied for continued practice. In addition, suggestions are given for carryover in the aural rehabilitation therapy sessions, at home, in the workplace, at a restaurant, or on the telephone.
